Fitted Bedroom Furniture – Is It Right For You?

Since I started writing the fitted bedroom furniture blog people often ask me why do you mostly advocate fitted bedroom furniture over freestanding bedroom wardrobes. For me, the answer is simple.   Fitted Bedroom Furniture allows you to match your of way life to your own style with precision. Equally, fitted furniture for the bedroom creates an unique opportunity to design a bedroom that is functional for your everyday life but, encompasses your personal taste.

I believe that fitted bedroom furniture is pivotal to adding value not only to your home, but to your lifestyle as well. Summarised, it is about you and what is right for you! That can only be a good thing- right !

Just imagine a typical day in your household. The alarm goes off and it is Monday. Maybe, the morning blues are lurking after a wonderful sunny weekend and you hit the bathroom. Hopefully, a bracing shower restores your zest for life as you bounce back to your bedroom to get dressed. Now unless you are Gok Wan, the superhero of dressing with style and self-confidence builder you need to decide what to wear. Now Gok spends hours on a Sunday preparing his outfits for the entire week.   If however, like me your organisation skills are not so finely tuned, it is decision time. That is, of course unless your line of work or pleasure pursuits demand a set attire.   Most people I know do get their clothes ready for the next day. This can involve rummaging through squashed and squished clothes that need to be ironed again after hanging in their wardrobes. Ironing for the second time personally fills me with dread. Would you not rather have your clothes evenly spaced where they can stay neatly pressed and ready to access and wear at the touch of your fingertips.

How many people do you know hang their outfit for the following day on the back of their bedroom door or from the wardrobes?

Sound familiar? – Lets face it, your clothes hanging over the bedroom door is not the most eye-catching feature of your bedroom!

For a beautiful bedroom to be truly enjoyed clutter free and organised may sound old fashioned but it is timelessly true. Having your personal items in order and displayed in a way you can access them is wonderful. Stress levels are reduced by clutter free zones particularly when you are in a hurry.

A Customers Fitted Bedroom Furniture Design

To demonstrate my point further these bedroom drawers are one element of a recent complete fitted bedroom furniture installation carried out by Verve. The customer in question wanted a number of bespoke fitted furniture elements.  The brief included lots of hanging space, a enclosed vanity area for the lady to sit and get ready i.e apply make up and dry hair etc and drawers. Lets look at the solution to deliver space for the drawers. The bedroom designer has designed the bedroom to give the right amount of wardrobe storage and delivered on the desire for a concealed vanity area so that left the drawers. There is always the option to integrate drawers space in the wardrobes but in this case that would have compromised the amount of hanging space needed. Therefore, the angled bay window was ideal. The bedroom designer was able to make use of every bit of available space plus as the furniture is bespoke, so it fits like a glove.

This real world example of bedroom fitted furniture matching the desires and style of the customer is why I do advocate bespoke fitted bedroom furniture every time over freestanding bedroom furniture.

If the couple had opted for freestanding drawers the space at the end of each angled window bay would have been lost. The drawers would have stood either above the windowsill line or too far below. Whether too high or too low it would not look great and the space either side of the drawers would probably used for clutter.

Finally, they get to choose the handles too. In this instance a beautiful Swarovski crystal effect drawer handle.
